Spring is the right time to be in Holland especially in Lisse, where the famed bulb fields are located. This is near Amsterdam and just north of Leiden, site of the historical Hortus Botanicus. The colours and varieties and fragrances are a thrill to the senses - glorious! From March 22 to May 20, 2012 daily, the Keukenhof Gardens http://www.keukenhof.nl/ are in full bloom. Bus and admission 'Combikaart' tickets are available at the Visitors Centre for 21.00 euros in the centre of Leiden (also from Amsterdam). One can easily spend a whole day wandering the main gardens or rent a bicycle and also tour the adjoining bulb fields. It is also possible to ride the 'whisper boats' that silently sail around the beautiful Dutch landscape. It is pure magic!
