What do Vancouver Master Gardeners do? Watch this short video to learn more about several of our volunteer Projects

We are out and about in the community. We are happy to answer questions via Facebook or our Plant Info Line.

Vancouver Master Gardener volunteers support local gardening in communities throughout the Lower Mainland.  In a variety of locations from the Fraser Valley to the Sunshine Coast, Master Gardeners share gardening expertise, and their knowledge of environmentally responsible gardening practices.

We are often found giving gardening advice at farmers’ markets, garden centres, nurseries and neighbourhood events through the growing season.  Check your local nursery for Master Gardener visits.  Here are just a few of the places you may find us on weekends during the growing season.  COVID 19- Please confirm with the Nursery before your visit.

Additionally, Master Gardeners directly participate with diverse groups in Volunteer Projects.  These ongoing outreach programs are located in schools, neighbourhood public spaces, hospitals, long-term care facilities, hospices, transition houses, and Botanic gardens.  They bring an understanding of sustainable gardening practices to school students, aspiring gardeners, and community-minded individuals.  The garden projects are supportive gathering places for seniors, the disabled, people in transition, and patients and families needing an uplifting place of respite.

Here are some examples of active Master Gardener Volunteer Projects:

'Many Small Hands' Children's Garden, Ladner: Salad Garden
